My Work
I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and have had the good fortune to live in and travel to the far reaches of the globe. I have landed in coastal Connecticut, not far from NYC.
My adventures have included, underwater Photography in Indonesia, Caribbean Grenada, Curacao, and the Cayman Islands. I have taken High School students to build Habitat Houses in Texas and Mexico. Have biked and kayaked through New Zealand, Portugal and the Northeast US islands and explored a large swath of China, Australia and Bali.
All of these places taught me appreciation for the richness of diversity, by way of food, art, structure, politics, language and the universality of kindness.
My undergraduate degree is from Northern Vermont University. Spent a semester in France studying Art History and Fine Art traveling across Europe by train.
My Masters Degree is in Administration and Supervision in the Arts from Parsons School of Design and Bank Street College of Education in New York. I also studied Architecture at the University of Maryland and Columbia University culminating in a certificate in Landscape Design from the New York Botanical Gardens. Studied at the Chicago Art Institute and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School.
I taught primarily at the high school level in the Wilton and Greenwich, CT Public Schools for over 25 years and also at Parsons School of Design in New York. Currently teach at the Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan CT.
As the K-12 Art and Music Lead Teacher in Greenwich I managed the Art, Music and Theater Departments. I was also the Associate Curator of Education at the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary Art in Ridgefield, CT and the President of the Loft Artists Association for a number of years while a long-term practicing member.
My work is in Art collections from CT to Australia. Former Governor of CT, Dannel Malloy, a former CEO from ABC broadcasting, former president of Lever House Corporation and Board Member from the Museum of Modern Art and numerous others have my work in their collections.
I have had single person shows in the Rockwell Art Gallery, Stamford Mayors Gallery, Wilton Library Gallery, Loft Artists Gallery and USB Bank Headquarters Gallery. I have been in many group shows including the Stamford Museum, UConn Art Gallery, and in the Wilton Library and Loft Artists Galley numerous times.
As an educator I have mastered a wide range of media from Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, to Advanced PhotographicTechnology as a means of communication and as result I see no boundaries between these disciplines and use whichever media best communicates an idea, often combining them. I draw or paint and take photos every single day. Overall, my recent work has been focused on how we perceive and process visual information.
